Chicken Tractors

Mobile Chicken tractor

Simple designed chicken house that was built on top of a small trailer frame. The house is light enough to haul around with a ATV. We use mobile fencing to section off areas for the chickens to graze, moving them around using the same grazing practices used on our cattle.

Meat Bird Chicken Tractor Design 1

This was my first crack at a mobile chicken tractor for my meat birds. I used lumber and old metal roofing that I had laying around, the wheels can either be bought from your local hardware store or find them at a dump off an old used lawnmower. chicken wire wraps around the perimeter of the tractor with an open bottom to provide fresh grass for grazing. We typically put up to 15 birds and move daily. We use bungees to hang their food and water from the ceiling so they can not soil their food. A door on the top with old hinges provides access to the tractor.

The first tractor is heavy, harder to move with the tractor, this design accounts for those issues. I used PVC pipe from the local hardware store and made the frame using PVC cement and screws. Wrapped it with chicken wire leaving the bottom exposed for grazing. I zip tied a tarp over the top of it to provide cover from the elements. Leave one end open and use bungies for your access door. This one holds the same amount of birds but is easier to move and when you’re done for the year, take the tarp off it.
